======================================================= MPC Gram ====================================================== Vol 1 Number 52 June 22, 2000 News and Views The big M. That is what the show was. That could be M for Memphis and that makes a lot of sense because it is THE place for paper money at this time of year. Then again it could be the big M for MPC because this was the MPC show of all times with lots of notes, collectors, discoveries, and fun. But, the big M really was for Marcus! Yes, this was the Marcus show. He came into the show ridding high from the 691/701 escapade including his article in the Bank Note Reporter. Then he completed his collection as I mentioned earlier in the week. Now I will tell you the "rest of the story." He tantalized everyone who would stop to look with his Series 691 $20 REPLACEMENT! Yes, replacement! Just about everyone had asked about replacements after catching their breath on being informed of the "release" of 691/701s. Marcus gave many different answers on this. I think that he told many of you about this note and even sent most of you a scan of it. But not me, no, Marcus wanted to keep me on the string and measure my jaw drop in person. Well, I think that we broke the drop record. After waiting for weeks, Marcus could hardly wait to show me. I knew that something was up when he dragged me out of the hallway to show me something, but I was not prepared for the beauty of this 691 $20 replacement. It certainly is a beauty. On top of theat it has the spectacular serial number 900! What else can I say? It speaks for itself. I expect that Marcus will make a scan available on line if we ask him real nice. Please, please, please, Marcus! I am going to be on the road for most of the next week. I will try to get the gram out regularly, but there will be come interruptions. We certainly can use some input from some or all of you to help keep it going! Please do not call any of my area code 419 numbers except the cell phone. I will try to keep it on during the trip, but I am not good at retrieving messages on it. ======================================================= Letters We need your letters for publication in this section. The big M.
