News and Views
The most common MPC fancy number is a low
number. Obviously the ultimate low number is serial
number 1. One issued SN 1 note is in collections.
There is a great story associated with this note--how
I missed getting it! I published this story in the
Bank Note Reporter and think that it might be in the
book too, am not sure. If it is not, I will put it in
next time.
There is also a specimen with serial number one in a collection. That note was found only a few years ago. The other numbers under 10 are a #3 replacement and an unconfimed #2 replacement.
There are not too many note reported under 50 or even under 100. Notes under 1000 are certainly desirable and quite scarce. Even notes under 10,000 are somewhat popular and collected by some of us nuts.
How many single digit notes were printed/issued? Well, for the "traditional" 90 piece set 810 regular issue notes were printed. Add to that the 810 replacements and the total is only 1620. That is certainly not very many and perhaps we should be happy that any have survived at all.
Frankly, I expect that some more number ones are out there in scrap books etc. These tend to find homes at the time of issue so they should turn up.
I expect that there should be some comments on this
subject. Fire away!

Treasure hunting
This section includes military material for sale and notices from collectors and dealers wanting to buy material. Items for sale will be included until further notice at NO charge. The notice must inlucde a specific item for sale. Routinely the notice will appear only once in the gram. Then it will be forwarded to papermoneyworld.com for listing.
You can help make the gram successful by sending notices of things for sale. It is my hope that we can have something new every single day!
For Sale
MPC Check from Korea from the 1960s. These checks are payable in MPC rather than dollars. They are the more scarce Type 1 MPC check. You can have a pair of checks, one each from Seoul and Tageu Bank of America Military Banking Facility. These checks are an important part of MPC collecting. The pair for only $25.00 postpaid. E-mail fred@papermoneyworld.com to reserve your set.
