It was a wonderful experience and we are very thankful to the US Navy for the opportunity to have this experience. As I mentioned in an earlier report, I prepared a miniFest note for the cruise. The images attached are of my note with various signatures. I have a duplicate of this note (with signatures) that will be in the Fest 8 auction. The note is signed by the admiral, caption & senior master chief. On the face. The back is signed by the squadron commanders and the CAG his squadron is the left center but he signed at the top center. I am putting together a provenance. “A Provenance is the origin or source from which something comes.” I have 40 additional notes (without signatures). I offer these at $5 each for an MPC charity [See editorial--Ed.] There was an error “kind of“ on this one when I made them I went down to the post office and bought stamps. I was 2 short and instead of going back I wanted to buy 2 stamps aboard the ship. When I had all the notes post marked July 4 2006. “How many post offices are open July 4?” This one was so that is when it was post marked. Later I met a stamp collector on the Reagan and he talked me out of a Tiger cruse note. And was telling me that there were 2 Reagan stamps and there will be a new one out this month on the 15th. Well I got to looking at the tiger notes and discovered that the note I had started to get signed was a 37 cent stamp instead of a 39 cent stamp. So am hoping he contacts me so I can verify if the one he got from me is a 37 center as well. The additional picture is of an obedient Fester on tour in Hawaii. http://www.papermoneyworld.net/grams/1400-1499/reagan/reaganfront2006.jpg http://www.papermoneyworld.net/grams/1400-1499/reagan/reaganback2006.jpg http://www.papermoneyworld.net/grams/images/dangerkevin.jpg ********************************************************** Championship Question Corner Question: What series of US bonds were sold during WWII? Question ========================================== Editorial ========================================== Week two of Military Seminar 6 is just starting. People are coming in and the excitement is building. I talked to Doug after he submitted the report of his trip. It is my idea--not his--to start another fund. That fund is to support the papermoneyworld web site. As you probably know, Doug created and maintains this site for the community bennefit. In addition to far larger than I ever imagined monthly electricity, Doug has purchased software at various times for the soul purpose of supporting this site. Recently he bought a fairly expensive software package that was needed to fight the spam that was infecting the Gram. Therefore, Doug agreed at my suggestion to sell the CurisFest notes at $5 with the funds going to tech support so to speak. The short snorter CruiseFest note will be sold at the Fest for the same fund. I look forward to supporting this fund and hope that you will too. To reserve one of the notes, email Doug@papermoneyworld.net. ========================================= Mail Call =========================================== Dear Editor, Does the keyboard on your computer/lap top has some missing keys or did I miss something? I believe the question should have referred to "Karukera" which is the vignette on the face of the 1000 Francs issue from Guadelopue. If you did actually mean "Kaukera," then I think the answer should be that it has nothing to do with our studies.
