Kallman I been receiving the MPC gram for sometime now, but have had little to add until late. I have been a collector of MPC, AMC, and related items for more or less 25 plus years (less of late than more). As most collectors, at shows and flea markets when ever I see MPC in a junk box, I always look to see if there are any replacement notes. And as always, I would come away empty handed. With the advent of ebay, I would scan the listing almost daily, hoping to find one that somehow feel throught the cracks. Figure the odds! Well, perhaps I should have bouth a lotter ticket. On a cold dreay day when there was not much else to do, I was looking at the ebay lots more than usual and found a newbie listing notes in pairs with nothing more than the series number and denomination. About the 3rd or 4th lot, there it was, a pair of 692 - 10c notes, one regular issue, one a replacement note. I bid, and while I soon was out bid, because it was NOT listed as a replacement note, the number of bidders/watchers was unusally low and I manged to get the pair of notes for a very reasonable price. Not to be out done, while on a trip to find a good hunting spot for bear, we passed by a coin shop in a town that I had not been to for a number of years and had never visited. I ask the drive if on the way home, we could stop and I could take a look. As it turns out, I actually new the dealer who sets up at one of the local coin shows, but did not know where his shop was located. While what he has in military was spares, there among three other MPC notes was another replacement note. Asking the price, he qutoed a price for each note, or a discount if I bought all five. I bought all five, bringing the price of my second ever replacement note, this time a series 521 -10c, down to all of $2.00! So, yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus, and to collectors, there are still replacement notes out there, and the prices can be from reasonable to a down right steal! ***************************************************** Championship Question Corner Question: Question 164, difficulty 2. Yesterday's Question 163, difficulty 2. Who taught an ANA Summer Seminar class on world counterfeit paper money? Question: Bill Myers answered:This is the first time I have been able to have the time to answer in awhile. Joe Boling taught the course. PS I made it to Iraq and am now in Mosul, I flew in a C130 packed tighter then a sardine for 2 hrs. I must talk to my travel agent. ========================================== Editorial ========================================== We stay out of national and international politics. We also try to stay out of ANA politics. It is true that for each of the past few ANA elections (and IBNS too) we offerred candidates opportunities to share their positions and ideas with Gramsters. We were actually disapointed at the small number to accepted the offer. Nonetheless, the offer was made and a few accepted. However, it is going to be much more difficult to stay out of the probable fray that will be called the ANA elections. That is because of the candidacy of Wendell Wolka. It is fairly easy to say at this point without other announced candidates that Wendell would be a wonderful governor. He has educational and professional qualifications, but most of all his collector credentials are excellent. Of course he is also a personal friend. We have shared a dorm room at the ANA summer seminar. He and I flew together (by chance) to the First Memphis paper money show (gosh. about 30 years ago). Most importantly, Wendell is a Fester. What greater qualifications could a person have? ========================================= Mail Call =========================================== Dear Editor, I hope Kathy has not beaten me to it Joseph E. Boling conducted the Counterfeit class at ANA Summer School By the way I have just finished the last of the columns on the Summer School in our magazine copies to you after the show this weekend. By the way in true MPC Fest Style I believe there may be a minifest this weeken the first, if I am correct to be held in the southern hemisphere. More when I get back from Melbourne. By the way I have been in fairly constant contact with Bill Myers since the ANA. Best regards Tony James Dear Esteeemed Editor, I recently learned John Sylvester is selling his very extensive collection of Indochina area medals and decorations.  His collection also includes those of other countries in the world who issued medals and decorations associated with that part of the world too.  He is keeping his ribbon collection, but an auction firm at http://www.fjpauctions.com/ will be selling his medals and decorations.  I just visited this website for the first time and it looks like a lot of Gramsters will be interested in it. You have my reservation, but I do not yet have a cost to PayPal you with or to charge to my Visa card. When will you have the cost?  Do I make separate reservations with Holiday Inn for the extra days? Will there be pay in MFC for carrying "stuff" out of the warehouse and setting up the show?  For the last Fest, the pay was so low, I completely missed it.  I owe the Holiday Inn manager $100 for the Leo May Fest T-Shirts I have sold for her.  Will an ad be allowed in the Gram to try to sell the rest of them or is that against regulations?  The Master Sergeant Daniel Dear The, Fest payment detail will be included in the calendar section soon. An ad for the May T-shirt would be great. It would be especially great if a link to a photo of a buxom model wearing the shirt were included in the ad. Yes, this might be a violation of regulations, but we might be able to get it by the censors. Editor Dear Gram, Congratulations to Warner (and Bill too) on the ANA President's Award.
