We cannot conclude that it is anything other than the water served at MPC Fest. First, Festers Joe and Louis Boling got married. Not only did they marry, but they married each other and at the Fest no less. Then David Seelye married. While all of this was going on, Kim the Fest hotel manager and Wendy the hotel night manager also got married. Now we have heard that Wendell Wolka is going to do the same. Of course, Fest Hedquarers offers and suggests the Fest as an ideal venue. Indeed, we might consider having a Fest Wedding Fair sometime in the future. Until that time, we can only suggest that you do not drink the water. Fest Lottery MPCFest has had Fest lottery (as a WWII reenactment of course) for several years. According to Fest lottery officer Ed Beaman, for the first time the Fest lottery is being made available to nonFesters. Lottery prizes have been improving over the years with this year''s being the best ever. Prizes have not been finalized (donations still being accepted), but they include a specimen set of Fest bonds (possibly unique), pattern Fest coin, Fest coins, numismatic books, publisher's mock ups of the new Feller n Fell book. Commemorative Fest lottery tickets are themselves collected by Festers and others. Tickets are $1MFC each or six for $5MFC. The tickets are sold only for current MFC (series 061). Collectors with MFC can send in thier MFC or use the reservation system below. As a courtesy Gramsters and others who are interested can convert US Federal Reserve notes to the extent of ticket purchases. If you want to buy tickets (six ticket minimum). Reserve your tickets by sending an email here to the Gram. Your tickets will be purchased from the lottery officer and held by a reliable party (the Boss?) through the drawing. Then send your payment (FRN or MFC to Fest HQ or via PayPal). As a bonus prizes will be mailed to all winning players at no charge! ***************************************************** Championship Question Corner Question 188. Difficuly 3. What does UNRRA stand for relative to numismatics and why is it of interest to us. Yesterdays Question 187. Difficuly 3. Name three past Fest Championship contest winners. Answers and comments: The championship winners are (I think): Marcus Turner, Jim Downey, Jack Hunter, and Jim Downey. The only source for this information (for now) is the Gram. This seems like something that should be listed in each edition of the MPC book. ========================================== Editorial ========================================== I am preparing this Gram on Wednesday (miracle of miracles) for Thursday delivery although I may send it out this evening in lite of the following. I just learned that (quite fittingly) 3.14 is Pi day! It is also (quite fittingly) Einstein's birtday. In spite of being interesting, how can this possibly have a numismatic connection to justify comment in the Gram. Hm, well that is an interesting question. One thought is that this is a good design idea for Fest money. This is especially true since by coincidence Fest money has usually been issued in March. Of coruse this is just a coincidence, becuase a financial emergency can happen at any time requiring a new issue, and conversely it is possible that a given MFC could remain in circulation for several years. Now I have slipped a few more days and it is Saturday! Fest preparations are driving me a bit crazy, but the excitement is really buidling. I have not heard from a few Festers who I am sure are coming. I hate to publish a list with assumptions and even if the assumptions are correct, I cannot be sure of when you are coming etc., so PLEASE email or call me. ========================================= Mail Call (send mail to MPCGram@yahoo.com) =========================================== Dear Editor, I'm over in Toledo Wednesday then to Fest HQ on Thursday. Anyone need a ride from Toledo or Detroit on Thursday? The 10K run is not that bad, but the 3K swim is actually a pretty healthy distance, actually longer than a half ironman distance swim at 2K. I would suggest sometime along a 1.5K. Cheers, Thanks, Sparky mcwatson@yahoo.com Dear Gram, Just a quick question regarding the schedule. What's the difference between exhibits and show-n-tell? Don't we do that when explaining the exhibits? Do we need to have different materials to show-n-tell, or what? Please clarify! Tanksalot. Neil Dear Neil, That is a very good question. First, we encourage everyone to bring a show n tell be it elaborate or one small item. This has not been so clear in the past, so I am stating it very cleraly right now. In addition, we have some display cases that are available to lay out elaborate or extenstive exhibits/show n tells. There is no need for this group to have an elaborate display with lots of explanation. This is a relatively homogenous group of collectors so you can just lay material in the cases. Does this answer the question?
