Series 8, no 1557 Tuesday June 26, 2007
Show this weekend
by Bill Rosenblum
This weekend is the annual Colorado Springs
Coin Show which will be held on Friday, Saturday
and Sunday at the Phil Long Expo center in the
northern part of the city.
Traditionally many dealers at this show have
material for military collectors. Furthermore,
many collectors from both sessions of the summer
seminar will likely be present.
Classes Continue
The MPC Boot camp completed on Monday
evening.
Sharon Thomas (ANA deputy executive directory
for education and publications) dropped in on
the class as VIP guests and guest instructors.
Joe told some collecting stories and tried to
keep the pirmary instructor (Schwan) on task a
difficult task under any circumstances.
Within a few minutes Sharon was calculating
MPC sheet numbers from serial numbers. She is
believed to be the first ANA staff member ever
to demonstrate this skill. This also puts her in
the top .5% of numismatists worldwide. Well,
perhaps this particular .5% is not necessarily
the top .5%, but it a noteworthy accomplishment
in any event.

Editorial

I was very surprised at the lack of comment
on my theories about the intentions regarding
the issue of Allied A and B yen. I certainly
expected Joe to have some comments (he usually
fires at any and everything). We had a few chats
on the matter here at the seminar, but nothing
of great consequence.
I had a lot of fun with the MPC Boot Camp.
The overwhelming comment of the recruits was
that there was much more to MPC than they had
ever imagined. I certainly agree with that and
suspect that many of you do too.

Mail Call (send mail to MPCGram@yahoo.com)
===========================================
Dear Gram,
As usual I will have quite a bit of military
related items at the Colorado Springs show this
weekend. I will also have the new Feller/Feller
concentration camp book. Stop by and say
hello.
Bill Rosenblum
Dear Gram,
I would be interested in a type set ( serial
number
1 is the preferred serial number ) of all the
MFC issued. The corresponding replacement notes
( again serial number 1 is the preferred serial
number) also are on my want list. Specimens,
printer's Proofs, floor sweepings,
proclamations, and other ephemera also are
interesting to me. I have MPC, AMC, MFC to
trade, along with the more mundane FRN's.
David ( thempcman@verizon.net)
Dear David,
Your letter is laced with incriminatory
information indicating that you are trading in
MFC, AFC and the like. Especially with regard to
event participants these could be serious
violations subject to sanctions, confiscations
and the like.
Based upon your information we will be doubly
vigilant in protecting notes issued, redeemed
and stockpiled.
Finally, because of the nature of your
request it is obvious that we cannot run your
request.
