Kevin Maloy suggests that if you have a state lottery pick the numbers 769 and or 768,992. At MPC Fest I, Maloy produced a replacement 661 25c with serial number 768,992. That serial number matched the serial number of the 661 $20 replacement that Harold K. had at the fest! Matching serial numbers! Schwan (and others) had been trying to identify matching serial numbers for a long time, but had only been able to do it with serial number reports. It was a major find, or so it seemed at the time to not only confirm a matching pair, but to also have them both "in attendance" at the Fest. The notes when home together by the way. Now Maloy has done it again with serial number 00000769 on his 641 25 cent replacement. That note matches the only reported 472 $5 replacement which has not only been reported, but is absolutely confirmed because it is illustrated in the current edition of the MPC book. The two notes remain in two collections, but the owners are woking on an adoption program! ==================================================== Editorial ---------------------------------------------------- Work continues to go well on the MPC book. It is dominating my life, but the end is in sight. There are some interesting new items and even some controversial treatments of some of these, so it will be interesting to see the reaction when the book comes out. If you have any hopes of getting your contribution included, send it soon. Remember, we need your forecasts for the Jan 1 Gram. ==================================================== Mail Call ---------------------------------------------------- Dear Editor, "MPC GRAM" Getting To Commercial ? Of course we have our opinion here at HQ, but we sure would like to hear from the field before making any radical statements. Fred The Christmas item you were looking for in WWII Remembered is on page 320. Neil Shafer illustrated an identical one, except from a DIFFERENT sender (R. R. Blessman, EcM2c), in his column in the 26 December Numismatic News. Joe Dear Joe, Thanks for the pointer. I was sure that we had such an item, but just could not find it. Now, I have to figure that the error was in indexing! Drat. It is an interesting item, I suggest that everyone have a look at it.
