Schwan (and Boling) for MPC Talk in Tacoma

Fred Schwan will be the featured speaker at the Tacoma
Lakewood Coin Club meeting in Tacoma, Washington on
April 2.
Schwan who will be visiting Boling that week for
research (and fun) will talk about new developments in
MPC and the production/release of his new book The
Comprehensive Catalog of Military Payment
Certificates.
The public is invited and Gramsters are encouraged to
attend the meeting if at all possible. The meeting
will begin at 7:15 at the normal meeting place (not
available at Gram HQ at press time, it will be
published later this week).
Schwan (and Boling) will be available for book
signings after the presentation and books will be
available for sale at the event.

Any Bonds Today?, by Beth Py-Lieberman
Reviewed by Howard A. Daniel III

The February 2002 issue of the Smithsonian magazine
has an illustrated article about World War II War
Bonds. The article is well written, but one of the
best parts are the sources of the posters. Maybe they
have some not illustrated that actually show some war
bonds or they have the war bonds too. For those
collectors of War Bonds, a visit to the Northwestern
University Library, American Art Museum, National
Museum of American History, and the Smithsonian's
Government and Map Department might result in some
worthwhile discoveries. I believe the Numismatic
Department of the National Museum of American History,
Bureau of Engraving and Printing, and the Treasury
Department could also have some bonds. Good hunting.

Editorial
----------------------------------------------
There are still a few little bugs to fix in the new
Gram mailing system, but overall it is working and a
great improvement. To make things a little more
complex, I have now installed a cable modem. In the
final analysis it was easier than I expected. The hard
part was the documentation, it was terrible.
Installation required no new software despite the fact
that two CDs of same were included in the package. The
service is not as much faster as I expected.
Nonetheless, it is much better than what I had. I
think that it will have many additional advantages
too.

Mail Call
----------------------------------------------
Dear Editor:
Received the new MPC book.
You folks did a great job.

ED

Dear Gram,
 I just purchased a $1,000 Konversionskasse bond
issued July 1, 1936 (# 224 on page 485 of WW II
Remembered) in EF condition on eBay.
The bond came with three $15 coupons attached at the
top. It looks like there were originally 16 coupons.
The coupons all have different dates and the serial
number (008971) on them matches the serial number on
the bond.  The paper has a watermark and the seal is
embossed so I believe the bond is genuine.
I won the auction at $25 and noticed the book lists
its value at $400. Also, the book does not mention or
show the coupons.  The person who sold this to me is
offering several more similar bonds on eBay and they
seem to sell for about the same price.  Is the bond
really worth $400 and what is the story on the coupons
- do they make it more valuable?

Lou Padgug

Dear Gram,
Haven't received an MPCGram since 26 Feb. It did come
to the correct email address (new) of
cjcpi@comcast.net.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Ray Czahor

Dear Ray,
Are you sure that you paid for your subscription?
Seriously, we seem to be back n track now. I expect to
post some of the back issues at papermoneyworld so
that those of you who were cheated can catch up. We
will also extend your subscription.

Dear Editor

Our new 2002 Israel/Palestine/Judaic Stock list will
go in the mail
tomorrow February 27th, two days earlier then planned.
However it is already up on our web site. You can look
at the HTML version, with images at
http://www.rosenblumcoins.com/Israel/pg1.shtml.

If you would rather view it in PDF format, without
images, go to
http://www.rosenblumcoins.com/pricelists.html for
instructions.

You then can go to
http://www.qadas.com/SECURE/rosenblumcoins/secureform.html
for our secure credit card order form.

This is a stock list and replaces all previous lists.
Most orders are
shipped out within 24 to 48 hours of receipt. However
we are a two
person office and when we are both away orders will be
shipped upon receipt. In that regard, please note that
we will be closed from March 6th through March 11th.
However you can still order by phone and email.

Please note that all email orders are confirmed by a
return email.

Best Regards,

Bill Rosenblum

Dear Gram,
Your MPC special events calendar does not have the

Hot Contact List

Below is the BNR Press Hot Contact List. This list
serves several functions. Obviously it is an outreach
by the dealers listed for your business. Most of them
buy and sell MPC. Others organize shows or publish
periodicals. They have supported the new Comprehensive
Catalog of Military Payment Certificates with their
advertising. They deserve your support and patronage.

Secondly, this is a draft from the book that
participating dealers should check for correctness.
Finally, dealers who are not on it and want to can
still get their ads in if they act promptly. Respond
to this email or call (419) 732-6683.

We are sorry if the format is a little messed up here
in the Gram, we are not sure of how to fix it!

Very interesting replacement. Series 692 $10 (!!),
serial number E00032007 pos 5. This SN demonstrates
the system very well. Four positions completed =
32,000 notes. This then is from sheet number 7. Note
is overall very fine, but looks extremely fine from
the face. The centerfold that is strong on the back is
not even noticable on the face. Two staple holes that
saved the note from destruction 30 years ago at left.
Yours for $3300, terms possible. Confirm at
fred@papermoneyworld.net.
