I depart for the seminar in less than twenty four hours and have far too much to do in that time. Of course Fred and I are looking forward to the seminar, but at this moment it is more the work that I am thinking about than the fun. I was pleased to remember my pay book and challenge coin. You should do the same if you will be anywhere near the Springs next week. We will certainly try to make daily reports from the seminar. ============================================== Editorial ============================================== I see that I got a little sloppy yesterday. I did not advance the Gram number to 652 from 651. It was a particularly confusing day to make that mistake because the lead story was about Series 651 which WAS supposed to be in Gram 651. I am sure that my error caused some confusion. Oh well, possibly someday a numismatic bibliophile will try to make a list of Grams and get it all straight, or perhaps he/she will not. I want to reinforce what Joe said about challenge coins and pay books. If you have one, take it. This means if you have attended a Fest or military money seminar in the past, be sure to have your pay book. Even if you are not taking the military money seminar, you will be entitled to a partial pay! If you are going to be a student in the seminar, please bring a few or any items from your collections that might be of interest to the class. We will be happy to have you explain them, or, if you do not know enough about them, possibly someone will. Warner Talso and David Seelye are bringing some things. I hope that the rest of you will too. Not only can I use a break, but, trust me, you will probably also want a break FROM me! Sorry that this issue is dominated by the seminar, but then it is the big news for the next week or so. Please send in some items on other subjects! Fred ============================================== MAIL CALL Dear Gram, Tom, The Tsingtao chits were later than May of '46 when I left there to come home. I've noticed several chit ads in the past couple of months from units we were with and to my knowledge they were after this time. We used small stores on the Boxer for our uniform purchases and when we wanted ice cream made from somethjing other than the powdered milk our cooks tried to foist off on us. As I recall there were the Boxer, Antietem, a couple of cruisers and four Cans in the task force there at that time, I was on the Blue, DD 744. All the best John Glass Dear Editor, I would like to submit a image for a very interesting item for the gram. I can accross this the other day on a mpc Hunt and just though I would show it to mpc'ers face www.papermoneyworld.net/doug/rationcheck.jpg back www.papermoneyworld.net/doug/rationcheckback.jpg a ration check from Ft Sill while it was indian territory doug Dear Editor, I am looking for serial and position number information on MFC series 022, (MPCFEST III Currency). Please send me the information from your notes!! Remember I take MFC at par (and pay a substantial premium for serial #1 and1* notes) on any item from my fixed price lists. David Seelye AKA coinman@rochester.rr.com Dear David, This sounds suspiciously like an advertisement, but then it is a good research project too. Do you only need info on 022? We might need a new wanted section for research projects. Of course the MPC replacement survey comes to mind and there are many others too. Editor Dear Editor, When is Warner’s presentation? I will try to be there. Larry Gibbs Dear Larry, All I know at the moment is that it will be on Saturday in conjunction with the coin show. Possibly Gail or Warner will respond to this message with additional information.
