From: "MPCgram" To: Subject: MPCGram 658 Date: Sunday, June 30, 2002 7:45 PM ============================================== MPC GRAM ============================================== Covering the entire World of Military Numismatics Series 003 - Number 658-Sunday 30 JUNE 2002 New Issue for Springs A new issue of military money was released this morning at Colorado Springs for use exclusively within the military money seminar. The new issue is Series 100 C yen. The following denominations were released: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 200 yen. The notes were issued as part of normal pay operations for the seminar. David Seelye reports that it appears that two printings are represented including replacements of most (or all?) denominations of both printings. A surprise discovery was a double denomination 200/100 yen note. Concern was expressed that the existance of such a note might undermine the usefullness of the entire series and could cause it to be withdrawn soon, but this is speculation at best, rumor at worst. Ship Chits by Tom Koch In response to Roger's questions in the Gram: first Chits from specific ships are difficult to come by. The ship chits in my collection are as follows - USS Oklahoma USS Tangier USS Melville USS Henderson USS Inchon The ones in Ruth Hill's listing: USS Pyro USS Sirius USS Pusan USS Enoree So, the pickings on ship chits are kinda slim. Any gramsters having any additional Navy ship chits please respond to the gram as I am interested in identifying them (as well as buying or trading for them if possible). Secondly, Camp & Post Exchange tickets are not an area of my expertise. It seems that everytime I bid on them on Ebay; some gramster outbids me. So hopefully someone else will respond on that eternal question "What is it worth?" ============================================== Editorial ============================================== The seminar has started with a bang. Everyone seems to be having a good time. I know that after only one day, I am loosing my voice, but it is great. Did I tell you yesterday that Joe and I visited a shop and found some great material? Possibly I did. One item found was a series 1943A 5 yen AMC without serial number! Joe found it, but I bought it! I was well pleased as you can imagine. Fred ============================================== MAIL CALL =============================================== Dear Mr. Editor, Yesterday I received three copies of Gram 655; I did not, however, receive a copy of 654 if one was sent. Thanks, Roger Urce Hello Roger, Thanks for the notice. We examined the situation and determined that somehow 654 did not go out to everyone so we sent it out again. You should have received it yesterday.
